The Fox Sisters, Katie Fox, Maggie Fox, and Leah Fox were the Founders of the Modern Spiritualist Movement. Katie was the first one to break down the barrier between the Spirit  and Physical World, when she asked the rappings to mimic her, which it did. This would prove that the Spirit World was a world of intelligence.

 

The Davenport Brothers, Ira Davenport and William Davenport followed in the Fox Sister's footsteps. They also had rappings in their house, however, communication with the Spirits began after the Fox Sisters made the breakthrough. The Davenport Brothers developed into physical mediums, and travel throughout the United States and Europe demonstrating their gifts.

 

Fred P. Evans was a psychography medium. Spirit would write messages using chalk on slates. Pictures were also drawn.

 

Helen Duncan was a British materialization medium. Spirit would use ectoplasm from Helen's body and wrap it around their spirit body. Then the Spirit could speak with ordinary people, who could hear the voice of Spirit.
