In 1026 BCE, 3029 years ago, a frantic and desperate King Saul traveled to Endor to consult what some Bible translators called a mistress of a spirit of prophecy. Today many people would call the woman a medium. She established a communication link with the Spirit of the prophet Samuel, who foretold King Saul’s doom.
Who was this enigmatic woman? Some think the woman was a genuine medium, others a necromancer and a fraud. She has been called a worshipper of the Devil, a medium, a witch, a compassionate, kind-hearted woman, and an idolatrous pagan. Where does the truth lie?
Some people think the Spirit of Samuel returned; others believe it was a demon or Devil impersonating Samuel.
This book will explore the story of the Woman of Endor, 1 Samuel 28: 3-25, in detail, comparing how 252 versions of the Old Testament translated and mistranslated the original Hebrew words because they lacked knowledge of psychic science. Next, this book explores how Christian theologians have maligned this woman’s mediumship. Also included are Bible scholars’ theories who want to prove the woman of Endor was a pagan necromancer. Then Spiritualist authors support the work of this infamous medium entirely. I have attempted to present all points of view, allowing the reader to formulate his or her own opinion.
I have included many works of art, paintings, engravings, and book illustrations depicting the famous Séance at Endor in this full-color book.
Saul and the Witch/Medium of Endor has become the Bible’s most controversial and hotly debated story.
